Multi-Lingual Aunty :)

I wanted to blog this from many days how I met aunty who knew many languages and how sweet ,smart lady she was .I had heard people speaking many language may be around 6 or more languages....but had never met who spoke many languages in front of my eyes......

Myself and shilpa, lakshmi were roomies and we were new to Chennai and we were wondering how to kill Sunday evening and also wanted to visit some temple....so we decided to go near by Ganapathy temple...we all were doing pradkshina and I heard one lady calling me and telling me something in Tamil and since I was new to Chennai and was not used to Tamil...I was like wat aunty? then aunty asked me which language you know...i was like kannada and English.....She said my mother tongue is Kannada and I was so damn happy finding someone who speak my mother tongue in some other state...ll make any one happy i guess :)...
She asked me to take Prasada (some eatable offered to the god)....i finished my pradakshine and i went to take my part of prasada... even my roomies joined me....then she started introducing herself and when she started speaking to lakshmi she said even she was born and brought up in AP...so she started speaking to her in Telugu and with shilpa in Hindi and with me in kannada...with other people in Tamil...and she speaks English, Marathi and broken Malayalam also...I was just shocked seeing her speaking all the language so fluently ....She explained us how she knows so many languages :
Kannada: was her mother tongue
Tamil: because she is working in Chennai from many days.
Telugu: She was born and bought up in AP.
Hindi: She works in Kendriya vidyalaya
English: Most of us know it.
Marathi: Because of her father-in-law.
Malayalam: It’s easy to understand who knows Tamil.

Later we were chatting for some time and got introduced to uncle also. Then she invited us to her house....she was stranger to us but we shameless girls went to her home without hesitating....Aunty started talking about her daughter and herself.....how close they were and how she missed her daughter as she is in Singapore after marriage .....and the best part was aunty said I resemble to her daughter's sister-in-law so they called me to take prasada...they showed her photo and I was resembling.....later after some days I met aunty and her daughter ,even my clone (daughter's sister-in-law )....i blogged this because many times I just don’t reply or talk to strangers ...i don’t know why i spoke to her and went to her home.... met everyone at her home and calling her sometime...but aunty is really energetic ,lovely lady and.....she looks so homely (i meant in Indian way) and soooo good .....it just a remembrance and have got to learn lot from her ......that how she manages everything ....Aunty and Uncle rocks :)

Friends and Friend Ship day

FriendShip Day:

Yesterday August 3rd was friendship day and It was just awesome....We US friends enjoyed a lot...Actually it was not planned and never knew we would enjoy so much....August 2nd was saturday.Myself and my friends Manasa,Rekha went out for shopping as it was starting of the month....Then we thought of beach and that to Besanth nagar beach @ 7.30 P .M. how could i resist and we started walking into the beach...later as usual we were looking at the people who had come with the family, friends, alone and some couples...later we were quite which makes us to go to some other world that is the best part of beach and i love it...its best place to relax...no tensions there. We walked on side of the beach for sometime and came out..we were chatting..then myself and Manasa were like we should come someday to beach for SUNRISE ..Rekha also agreed for that.At the same time i got call from my friend Chenchu, since we are in CTC ...there was a plan to meet up on Sunday aka Au 3rd at the same place @ 4 P.M. and Chenchu was like why noy morning 4 A.M to see sunrise and i asked other friends they said Yes.My roomies Smitha,Bhanu and Sam,Deepu also agreed for this. Then called up Raghu my cousin he was also ready. My bro pradeep was like why should we wake up @ 4 A.M. on sunday :-) ....Meanwhile Chenchu asked Sreedhar and Bharath to join...they did...So according to our plan we woke up at 3.45 A.M and got ready by 4.20 A.M....Chenchu,Sreedhar and Bharath came by Bike.We Girls catched a share auto and had to pay him double then as usual amount since it was 4:40 A.M...Deepu dropped because she had to attend Dance classes and it will be late for her classes...and even Mansa the one who was also in the planning dropped because she was not feeling well along with her Jisna and Vipin also dropped :-(...We missed them or i dont know they missed it..actually its both...

So we reached beach @ 4.55 A.M.So we were waiting for Raghu to join us and sat there and got introduced to each of us and were chatting. Most of them were Telugu Ammays talking to Telugu Abbays in telugu and we Kanndigas understanding their conversation.Raghu joined us and we started walking towards the Sea..There were some photo sessions while walking towards sea by Rekha....i thought Pradeep wont turn up and he called me saying he is near Beach and how to reach us..he surprised me...so everyone @ beach waiting for SUN rise.It was 5.45 A.M. SUN is not yet rised...

Mostly i have been to beach in the evening or late evening either it will be bright or dark .

The best day to go to Beach is Full moon day and i have never seen something so BEAUTIFUL in my life,it gives some diffrent feeling and takes us to some other world. On this day Moon and high waves ,moon light and milk whit waves makes such a good combination...the best part of chennai is Beach and everyone has to agree withit..its best place to go when we are very Happy or Sad .

There is other version of beach that is during day it will be so bright and i always wonder where the ocean starts and sky ends...
There is one more ocean we feel somewhere ocean and sky is meeting and in that darkness we can see only waves with milk white color and that is one more lovely thing i have seen.

So this time it was early morning its not too dark and not too bright it was so diffrent it was just beautiful....those clouds and sea it was speechless...

So we got into water..such a high waves this time and all girls just steped into water...Sreedhar,Chenchu and Bharath they were jumping into those high waves and were coming to the bank back with the waves...Pradeep opened his camera and started clicking photos...I remember few girls saying that they wont get into water...later the fun partt was Sreedhar,Chenchu and Bharath they literally pulled every one into the Sea and i remeber they had to drag few girls into water and with the wave even the girl and those 3 guys used to fall(still it makes me laugh)...and the great brother Pradeep i have never seen him getting into water..he is bit scared of water..this time i was really happy to see him to get into water with those guys and the wave..but he never fell down...We had a Ball and Raghu had got Freeze Bee..so every one started playing that sometimes they were jumping into water to catch ball and freeze bee....so time went like this and we forgot about SUNRISE ..it was 6.45 A.M. and there was a small orange ray and it was so cloudy...our badluck we could not see the SUNRISE...i want to share one more thing when these guys were dragging girls into water..Bhanu was screaming all the time and later she was into water for long time....same with Rekha...Sam was protecting girls whom these guys were dragging to water...Thoug Raghu is good swimmer he did not get into water for long time because he does wanted to wet his clothes..we were playing with sand and trying to construct a house...everytime we construct the house a high tide use to come wave off the house...then Sreedhar and Bharath started digging the sand....later sreedhar lying in that dig and we covered him with sand...Sreedhar the SAND MAN's sand also waved off with the tide....but it was really fun.... we never realised how time went on...We were back to the bank and the COOL Buddy Amith joined US!!! he was late though....now it was his turn to get into water...he was hesitating before..later got into water...

So time went on meanwhile an old fellow who has Motor Boat approached US for a ride in the Sea.But since the weather was cloudy and we dont know how thae boat condition is ...so we were in dilemma...that old man took Sreedhar and Amith so that they can check with the boat and all of us were waiting ,trying to dry our clothes...but everytime a high wave used ti hit us and we had run sometime catch our slippers which was floating with the wave!!!!! Meanwhile Pradeep started telling his stories.... his list of crushes and never proposed anyone !!!! and whom ever he likes those girls are getting married...so we were chatting about this topic in general..old man came running and we got a Green signal from Sreedhar and Amith..Few of us were scared because it was first time for boating in the sea...We got into the boat ten of us and boat started vrooooooommmmmm.......a big wave came and we thought water was going to come inside the boat...boat was going Up and down because of wave...it was a wonderful experince...there was live jacket and we did not wear it and among US only Sreedhar,Chanchu and Raghu knew swimming..There were two sailors and they were really good to us...they took us very far from this Concrete city .After may be 6-7 Kms he stopped the boat..it was so quite, peaceful, relaxing and no honkings.....then again photo session started..Sam and Rekha with titanic pose...with sailors all those.we were praying hope our boat does not become titanic boat ....one by one stood and looked around there was only water nothing else .....we were trying to find our office building and we asked sailor to take us to Srilanka nd he said its only 3 hours from there...it was only water and sky around us ..nothing else...i will never forget this in my Life time...Photo session was over we came back to the bank....while landing to the bank one big wave hit us..

we were drenched again !!!! More than anything weather was so pleasant ..it was superb...very cool..We went back to the entrance of beach...we were completely wet and full sand on us...and dried ourselves on the way and again sat ..then went to have breakfast @ our favourite Murugan Idly Shop..we were wondering wheather they will let us inside.we were so shabby with sand on us..actually i dont know how come guys were looking neater than gals ... :-)....they let us inside and had breakfast there and since our Cool Buddy Amith did not have cash ...i mean he had credut card....he could not treat us..anyways he owe us a treat...we went back home @ 11 A.M..and day was over for us @ 11 A.M. on sunday usually starts @ 11 A.M......tired lotz and took bath..slept like a Pig till the evening....But one thing want to tell you people is this friendship day was Superb and njoyed a lot...want to thank each and everyone of my friend who had come to beach and who could not join me and who is away from chennai..where ever they are you are the best and thanks for being sucha lovely friend...you people are there whenever i needed..li senti...k some more blah blah blah blah....

Baby Squirrel was my roommate for some days :-)

During my engineering i used to stay in hostel. It was starting of third year(5th sem) of my engineering.I shifted to new room .We were three girls staying in a room and the new room was in the corner of the building.Room was quite comfortable, spacious with good light and wind .There were two windows in the room.usually other rooms has only one window and as i was shifting with my senior i got space in this room .One of my roomy was architect student full time with trace sheets and some models, draft sheet.

She had dumped all her sheets in the top rack mostly its place where all the unused books were placed.Myself and other roomy were new to this room.Architect roomy was staying in this room from long time.So had dumped all her previous year's sheet into the top rack.We shifted into the room. One of the window had small opening where my seniors had put plastic sheet to cover that gap.Every night we used to hear some sound and even my architect roomy had heard that sound in the day time.

we forgot about it assuming that sound was from outside.Later one day my roomy saw a squirrel entering to our room through that small opening from the window. She got scared and even the squirrel after seeing her.Later squirrel left our room.we were scared but we thought something is there in our room so its coming to our room.We started looking into the top rack.Because of lots of architectz sheet.we could not find anything. We started removing one by one.Later we saw a small nest which had two cute baby squirrel...they were so small and cute..they started making some sound...mom squirrel had found our room for those baby squirrel to keep it safe and warm!!!later we kept the nest near window. We touched those squirrels and we felt really good that touch it was very soft.Especially those three stripes which relates Ramayana. Some one said its good luck if we touch those three stripes. We never realized how scared those baby squirrel were and also we have almost spoiled the nest keeping it outside...
After sometime MOM squirrel came through the same opening from the window took one squirrel on its back and went...later it took one more and left the room.Nest was still near the window .we were not aware how long it would have taken to weave the nest.It was very complex and beautiful nest...May be its very difficult for architect students to design and to put it on the trace sheet,or to make a model with all the cardboards.I love that room...will never forget those cute baby squirrel...still have the picture of those cute baby squirrels in my mind and mom squirrel carrying on its back..All mom are the same they always look for there kids safety and ll do anything fro their kids.

Touching Story

I was born in a secluded village on a mountain. Day by day, my parents plowed the yellow dry soil with their backs towards the sky.I have a brother who is 3 years younger than me. I wanted to buy a handkerchief, which all girls around me seemed to have. So, one day I stole 50 cents from my father's drawer. Father had discovered about the stolen money right away.

He made me and my younger brother kneel against the wall as he held a bamboo stick in his hand.
'Who stole the money?' he asked.I was stunned, too afraid to talk. Neither of us admitted to the fault, so he said, 'Fine, if nobody wants to admit, you two should be beaten!'He lifted up the bamboo stick.Suddenly, my younger brother gripped father's hand and said, Dad, I was the one who did it!'

The long stick smacked my brother's back repeatedly. Father was so angry that he kept on whipping my brother until he lost his breath. After that, he sat down on our stone bed and scolded my brother, 'You have learned to steal from your own house now. What other embarrassing things will you be possibly doing in the future? You should be beaten to death, you shameless thief!'

That night, my mother and I hugged my brother. His body was full of wounds from the beating but he never shed a single tear.In the middle of the night, all of sudden, I cried out loudly. My brother covered my mouth with his little hand and said, Sis, now don't cry anymore. Everything has happened.'

I still hate myself for not having enough courage to admit what I did. Years went by, but the incident still seemed like it just happened yesterday.I will never forget my brother's expression when he protected me.That year, my brother was 8 years old and I was 11 years old.

When my brother was in his last year of secondary school, he was accepted in an upper secondary school in the central. At the same time, I was accepted into a university in the province. That night, father squatted in the yard, smoking, packet by packet. I could hear him ask my mother, 'Both of our children, they have good results? Very good results?'

Mother wiped off her tears and sighed,' What is the use? How can we possibly finance both of them?'At that time, my brother walked out, he stood in front of father and said, 'Dad, I don't want to continue my study anymore, I have read enough books.'Father swung his hand and slapped my brother on his face.

'Why do you have a spirit so damn weak? Even if it means I have to beg for money on the streets, I will send you two to school until you have both finished your studies!'And then, he started to knock on every house in the village to borrow money.I stuck out my hand as gently as I can to my brother's swollen face, and told him, 'A boy has to continue his study; if not; he will not be able to overcome this poverty we are experiencing.' I, on the other hand, had decided not to further my study at the university.

Nobody knew that on the next day, before dawn, my brother left the house with a few pieces of worn-out clothes and a few dry beans. He sneaked to my side of the bed and left a note on my pillow; 'Sis, getting into a university is not easy. I will go find a job and I will send money to you.'
I held the note while sitting on my bed, and cried until I lost my voice. That year, my brother was 17 years old; I was 20 years old. With the money father borrowed from the whole village, and the money my brother earned from carrying cement on his back at a construction site, finally, I managed to get to the third year of my study in the university.

One day, while I was studying in my room, my roommate came in and told me, 'There's a villager waiting for you outside!'Why would there be a villager looking for me? I walked out, and I saw my brother from afar. His whole body was covered with dirt, dust, cement and sand. I asked him, 'Why did you not tell my roommate that you are my brother?'

He replied with a smile,' Look at my appearance. What will they think if they would know that I am your brother? Won't they laugh at you?'I felt so touched, and tears filled my eyes. I swept away dirt and dust from my brother's body. And told him with a lump in my throat, "I don't care what people would say! You are my brother no matter what your appearance is?'

From his pocket, he took out a butterfly hair clip. He put it on my hair and said, 'I saw all the girls in town are wearing it. So, I think you should also have one.'I could not hold back myself anymore. I pulled my brother into my arms and cried. That year, my brother was 20 years old; I was 23 years old.

I noticed that the broken window was repaired the first time I brought my boyfriend home. The house was scrubbed cleaned. After my boyfriend left, I danced like a little girl in front of my mother, 'Mom, you didn't have to spend so much time cleaning the house!' But she told me with a smile,"It was your brother who went home early to clean the house. Didn't you see the wound on his hand? He hurt his hand while he was replacing the window.'

I went into my brother's bedroom. Looking at his thin face, I felt like hundreds of needles pricked in my heart.I applied some ointment on his wound and put a bandage on it, 'Does it hurt?" I asked him.'No, it doesn't hurt. You know, when at the construction site, stones keep falling on my feet ...Even that could not stop me from working.'

In the middle of the sentence, he stopped. I turned my back on him and tears rolled down my face. That year, my brother was 23 years old; I was 26 years old. After I got married, I lived in the city. Many times my husband invited my parents to come and live with us, but they didn't want. They said, once they left the village, they wouldn't know what to do.My brother agreed with them. He said, 'Sis, you just take care of your parents-in-law. I will take care of Mom and Dad here'.My husband became the director of his factory. We asked my brother to accept the offer of being the manager in the maintenance department. But my brother rejected the offer. He insisted on working as a repairman instead for a start.

One day, my brother was on the top of a ladder repairing a cable, when he got electrocuted, and was sent to the hospital. My husband and I visited him at the hospital. Looking at the plaster cast on his leg, I grumbled, 'Why did you reject the offer of being a manager? Managers won't do something dangerous like that. Now look at you - you are suffering a serious injury. Why didn't you just listen to us?'

With a serious expression on his face, he defended his decision, 'Think of brother-in-law. He just became the director, and I being uneducated, and would become a manager, what kind of rumors would fly around?'My husband's eyes filled up with tears, and then I said, 'But you lack in education only because of me!'

'Why do you talk about the past?' he said and then he held my hand. That year, he was 26 years old and I was 29 years old.My brother was 30 years old when he married a farmer girl from the village. During the wedding reception, the master of ceremonies asked him, 'Who is the one person you respect and love the most?'Without even taking a time to think, he answered,' My sister.' He continued by telling a story I could not even remember.'When I was in primary school, the school was in a different village. Everyday, my sister and I would walk for 2 hours to school and back home. One day, I lost the other pair of my gloves. My sister gave me one of hers.

She wore only one glove and she had to walk far. When we got home, her hands were trembling because of the cold weather that she could not even hold her chopsticks. From that day on, I swore that as long as I live, I would take care of my sister and will always be good to her.'Applause filled up the room. All guests turned their attention to me.I found it hard to speak, 'In my whole life, the one I would like to thank most is my brother, 'And in this happy occasion, in front of the crowd, tears were rolling down my face again.

Love and care for the one you love every single day of your life. You may think what you did is just a small deed, but to that someone, it may mean a lot.

Have you ever tasted cockroach?

Have you ever tasted cockroach?

As per my knowledge i know its not common to taste or eat cockroaches in India atleast not in Karnataka .But it happened to me to taste cockroach without my knowledge. One day i was having breakfast (pulav) with my brother and also was looking into news paper. My brother was sitting on the chair and myself on the floor.I like to have pulav with curd.

The curd packet was already open and i poured curd into my plate.we were so engrossed into the cricket match discussion and that to about sehwag...once up on a time i was a huge fan of sehwag.I was going on chewing without looking into the plate...after sometime i could taste something different i thought may be i have chewed some masala ingredient.....then i chewed once more this time i was sure its something different. The taste was really yuk..pathetic.I took that mouth into my hand and oh my god i have chewed cockroach.. i started puking...puked till everything came out....it was not first time i was getting cockroach in my plate. Many times in the hostel had seen cockroach in my plate. But somehow never got a chance to taste.

In our intermediate we had to dissect cockroach using many instruments like scissors, diffrent types of niddles,plucker....now i have dissected it without any instruments....this was most embarrassing for me...plz sometimes look into your plates while having food...Happy Eating...

The blunder which made me a cook !

Blunders make us to learn many things...
But not in my case all the time, i keep doing the same mistake.
But one of my blunder taught me cooking..yes here am penning down what made me learn to cook :-)

After my 6th standard i have been away from my sweet home...was in my aunt's house,hostel..so am always guest when i go home..my mom does not allow me to do anything...i know all momz are the same...she never let me cook nor even taught me or may be i was not all that intersted in cooking..So after finishing my engineering i came to Bangalore in search of Job and was staying with my cousins..Six of us in a small house ... it was like match box... if any guests comes home..one of my cousin had to go to his friends place to sleep....we were 3 sisters and 3 brothers staying in that Kutti house.

In that 4 of us were in search of job... one of my sis was doing her final year project in one of the company in Bangalore and other brother also had finished his M.tech (mechanical)... other cousin was from engineering...hope am not telling story like in K series serials. So by the time my sis used to come home it used to be 8P.M and she had cook for all 6 people. It used to become really late... So my brother who is very good at cooking started to cook for us... Usually we used to cook more sambar so that it comes for the next day.So this was making me feel guilty because my bro was cooking and am having its so odd...he is one of the sweetest bro on earth who would never let me do any work.

One day finally i had to make a blunder which made me to learn cooking..as usual he had prepared sambar and just we had to heat it, cook rice. Rice was done. I kept the sambar vessel on the stove and as if i am a very experienced i started cleaning the house..trying for multi tasking like my sis. My famous absent mindedness made me forget about the sambar...later my bro came said something is burning...here my tubeli8 mind remembers about sambar and everything is burnt...oh god first of all my bro is cooking...then i burnt sambar also....that day i felt even more bad...my bro had to cook again for us...then from next day i observed everything and started cooking under the guidance of him....now also i use his ratio while putting chilli powder and sambar powder 1:2....hats off to my sweet bro...now if someone ask about cooking i say i can manage. something is better than nothing....sometimes i get compliments for my recipes from my roommates now....
